I recently was asked by two friends to start up a homeschool group. At first I had kind of a deer in the headlights reaction. I was a little nervous about adding another activity to our kiddos life, but after some consideration and prayer, decided to give it a try. We are just getting started and not really sure what it will look like in the future. At this time, we are havie a blast. We have started with Poetry and Miss Jen is facilitating this part. The first week we made books and practiced rhyming words and wrote some practice poems. Then we went home and the kids picked out their favorite poem and proof read them, corrected punctuation, spelling and capitalization. Then they copy these poems into their books and draw a picture to illustrate them. Each week the kids learn a new style of poetry and practice writing their own. Jen is doing a fabulous job and we love her!
Ok, this is Jen and her son Ryan. Her son Ryan William. Her son Ryan William whose birthday is the day after our Ryan's.
Katie and her finished book. She loves writing things to put in her book. If I had known making a book would get her to practice her writing, I would have done it long ago!
Anne is working on assembling the cover of her book.
Ella working on her accrostic.
Kaelli and Mom, Holly.
Syndey putting her book together.
From Left to Right: Sadie; Mom, Jen; Ryan; and Katie discussing different ideas for their poems.
We are looking forward to our next get together.
