Whale Watching

So I took the kids whale watching.  The gray whales migrate from Baja, California to near Alaska and they come in pretty close to the Oregon Coast.  "Pretty close" is a relative term...even through the scope they were pretty small.  But it was exciting none the less.  There were 4 juveniles playing around out there and they were jumping and splashing and spraying.  Again hard to tell a jump from a tail splash from where we were.  The kids were excited about all the commotion, but to tell the truth they were a little disappointed at how small it all was even through the scope!  They were good sports and we had a wonderful day in great weather at the coast.

Anne taking it all in.  It took a bit, but they soon got the hang of how to look through binoculars.

Katie and Megan, soon bored with the whale watching, went on a little explore.

Ryan:  "Forget whale watching, how about raven catching!"
Ryan tried relentlessly to catch one of those big black birds. . .maybe next time!
