Ok, so it has been a while since I have posted anything. Seems like that happens around here. Usual suspects are being too busy, running kids here and there, you know the excuses. So I came up with a new one.
But first, let me tell you a new joke I heard.
There was this woman who stepped out of a chicken coop. . . Stop me if you have heard this one.
Well, she stepped out of a chicken coop. She stepped in a hole the dog dug just outside the door, turned her ankle, had surgery, was non-weight bearing for 3 months and has finally been allowed to walk with out assistance and drive. Freedom!!!!!
Ok, so not much of a joke. I have never been that good at jokes anyhow. But that has been my last 4 months. I turned my right ankle on October 3. It was diagnosed as a bad sprain. Next day changed diagnosis to torn cartilage. (It just kept getting better and better). After 3 weeks of non weight bearing, hoping the cartilage would heal itself I went back in for more x-rays and low and behold I chipped a bone as well. So that sealed it. On November 2 I had surgery. It was successful according to the surgeon. Then non weight bearing for another 4 weeks. ( We are now at Christmas folks.) Dec 12 I was allowed to walk in the boot for two weeks and then try a shoe. I am in physical therapy and will be for another 3 months and then I should be back to normal except I will never run competitively. Darn! There go my plans to run that marathon (NOT!!) I will also have to wear a brace for any major hiking or walking. Good news, in another year and a half I should be functioning normally (ankle-wise).
Moral of this story: Don't feed the chickens!
So here is a picture run down of the last few months, in no particular order. Lots more has happened that I plan to post, but it is too much for one post.

One of these things is not like the other. Can you guess?
Katie took a Thanksgiving Lego challenge. These were my favorites.
Katie also made cinnamon rolls.
Lots of cinnamon rolls. This is just half the batch!
So a side note about these cinnamon rolls. We used the recipe from Pioneer Woman. Wonderful rolls. However, it says 8 servings. Nope. Remember she lives on a ranch and has ranch hands to feed and a big family. So her 8 servings means 52 cinnamon rolls!
Anne went to a formal with her homeschool co-op. She looked exactly like this--except with shoes. I forgot to take pictures the night of her formal. So Christmas eve will have to suffice.
This is a good shot of all the kiddos.
This is a normal shot. Notice the eye roll going on in the back. Yea, we are seeing more and more of that lately.
Then the cousins got in on the action. Including monkey.
I made PJ's for all the cousins this year. This is the girls.
This is the big boys.
All the boys.
And all the cousins. Including monkey.
Before I hurt my ankle, Megan and Ryan were learning about coral reefs. And as homeschooling goes sometimes, all the kids jumped in to the learning and they put this together by themselves.
I know the pictures are a little hard to understand, but in reality is was really impressive! They made a coral reef.
Complete with diver. ( I know impaled on a stick, but ignore that!)
There were octopi, sea anemones, jelly fish, giant clams, star fish. . . . So cool. Best part, it took them hours and they were not fighting at all!!!
Another lesson the olders jumped in on. Volcanoes!
Again, they all worked together to design it and paint it. With little argument. You may wonder where Megan and Ryan are. They were hiding behind me. They were sure there was going to be flying lava!
