So Christmas is tomorrow and I have not posted the happenings that have led up to now. So while I still have two slippers to crochet for a niece and several batches of cookie dough in the fridge waiting to be baked (don't worry guys, the chocolate cherry almond bark and the peppermint bark is already made), and Christmas card to address, I'll throw up some quick pictures of Christmas activities.
We made fudge and other goodies. . .
Anne participated in a Lego League Robotics Tournament.
This is the team, they came together about 8 weeks ago and none of them had any robot or programing background. They practiced and learned for 8 weeks and then went to competition. They did better than they expected. They beat out 6 other teams and their robot successfully pulled of all the maneuvers it was programed to perform. All together they came away encouraged and excited for next year. In the picture above, the team has just sent the robot through it's paces and now they have a chance to reset it and make some adjustments. They are also talking with the judges.
Anne at the table waiting to see how their robot will perform.
And it is off. . .
Directly after the Lego tournament, we raced home, changed into performance clothes and left for the community Christmas concert. Anne and Katie performed in the orchestra and the children's choir. Here they are warming up for the performance.
Anne has really enjoyed learning the violin.
While Katie looks very sweet and happy in the picture, her relationship with the violin has been stormy. . .so in January she is going to see if she gets along better with the piano. She practiced very hard, and learned a lot on the violin, but she just didn't like it. So on to new things. We are proud of her that she stuck with it through the performance.
Sorry for the bad photography, from where we were sitting, we could not see Anne and Katie where they were in the orchestra, but they are up there on the left.
Again, sorry for the bad pictures, I have since talked with my friend who is a photographer and she gave me some tips so hopefully these types of pictures will improve. Anne and Katie sang with a 6 member children's choir. Here they are singing a song in latin and Anne is playing the bells.
Afterward, there were cookies and punch in the Jr. High cafeteria.
Both Anne and Megan performed in the Nutcracker this year. . .Anne was a party girl, a carousel dancer and soldier. Megan was a carousel dancer and a mouse. And mom forgot her camera both performances!!! So Thank you to Jen who took this picture with her cell phone. There was a photographer at the shows, hopefully he got some good shots that I can get.
So now it is Christmas eve morning and it is snowing!!!
Merry Christmas from the Gaskill Family!!
P.S. Christmas cards are going to be late this year.
