Thanksgiving and other hilarity

Thanksgiving is always a fun time around our home.  Several years ago we started a new tradition.  Phil's parents are not in the area for the Thanksgiving holiday, and my parents and sibs are on the other side of the country.  So that leaves us.  Well, one year a new family moved into the area and had no family around that they could see during Thanksgiving, so we invited them to come celebrate with us.  And so it continues---every year we have new families and some returning families that have no family to celebrate with.  This year we had 18 people total, and the house was filled with the sounds of strangers becoming friends, friendships deepening and of course trains of children running through.  Each family contributes to the food and brings something traditional to their family.  There is always enough for an army!

 Kitties--thankful for turkey.

It was such a fun and busy day that I forgot to take pictures while people where here, but here are some pictures of the decorations.  I am not really good at home décor, but I gave it a shot.

I have always wanted a mantle!

These pictures are from a "photo shoot" for our Christmas card.  We tried to play off the farm and country life theme with a bit of humor.

This is the Chicken Rodeo.  Here we have the round up. . .sometimes those chickens don't want to go back in the coup!

Later in the day this stealthy superhero stole into my kitchen and helped himself to some pumpkin pie!

Sneak peak into our hunt for a Christmas tree.

Another superhero, possible a Ninja Turtle, who busted into the living room one day to save us from folding laundry!

Hope your Thanksgiving was filled with joy, gratefulness, and a bit of superhero hilarity!
