Do you know who the most incredible woman in the Bible is? Noah's wife. For years this poor woman endure criticism as her husband built a boat in the desert. Then she loaded her family onto said boat which the Lord conveniently filled with all kinds of animals (I hope she was an animal person). Then she endured rain like we have never experienced before. . .Until now. . . IN OREGON!! (She did all this and doesn't even get her name mentioned. Like I said: Incredible!)
So it is raining here folks. I know, I know. "You live in Oregon, it rains!"
Let me explain to you who are not from around here. By the way, I totally get it because it took me a few years of living here to redefine my idea of "rain". The normal "rain" here is what other parts of the country would call mist, or drizzle. It is bad, for 9 months out of the year you live like someone is spitting on you. So after almost 17 years I have come to accept that type of weather. Not necessarily gracefully or joyfully, but I have accepted it.
Well folks, this year it decided to really rain. La Nina? Global Weather change or what ever they are calling it now? I don't know, but man it is wet. Torrential, downpour, monsoon. . .I've found a nice place in Phoenix, Arizona.
I feel a close bond to Mrs. Noah right now. Ok, minus all the volcanoes going off around and all the rest of humanity dying around you. But the rain part, Mrs. Noah, she and I are bonded forever!
So while it feels like it has been raining all day every day for the past, well, FOREVER!! We have had some hours and I think maybe even some whole days where it has not rained and here is what we have done.
We burned our burn pile. It was well over 6 feet tall and 25 feet around. It rained this day. But when it stopped I said:"Go light it! At least we can burn some of it!" So he did, it continued to drizzle and down pour on and off through out the day. We invited friends over during a break in the rain and roasted marshmallows. And of course, as the fire was winding down and the last S'mores were eaten, it started to pour again.
Notice the details of this photo: Two sweet friends. However, notice Katie-yes, a half eaten smore in her hand and not one, but two marshmallow on her stick to be roasted. Moderation is a word Katie has yet to learn.

A perfectly roasted marsmallow.
This looks like a master at work.
A two fer! She ate the outside and roasted the inside again to eat that.
Mmmmm, sticky goodness of marshmallows.
And what does Katie look like after at least three smores? Yep, she is buzzing.
We also went to the Ten Grands Concert in Downtown. Phil took the day off and went with us. Good thing because I don't drive in the city.
Gotta have snacks at the concert.
Katie and her friend Eden.
The theater is beautiful!
If you have never heard of Ten Grands, it is a concert put on by Micheal Allen Harrison. He chooses 9 young people to tour with him and they all play magically. Hence, 10 Grands (pianos).
These two amazingly talented young people were astounding, even more so because they both are completely blind!
Walking back to the parking garage after the concert we stopped at the Columbia store. They have some big rocks inside. I believe they are really meant for decoration.
But they also make a great photo op!
Another small break in the rain. This kitten thinks she is a bird. I almost always see her in a tree.
Then the day before Easter (because no body is busy the day before Easter), Anne and her friend Emily went to a 4H rabbit show.
Anne won a blue ribbon in showmanship.
Then she and Emily swept their breed and won Grand champion and Reserve Champion. Anne's rabbit won Grand champion and Emily's won Reserve. A note: Emily purchased her rabbit from Anne. Emily's rabbit "Missy" is the daughter of the rabbit Anne brought. Anne was pretty proud of both rabbits.
Who knew it took so much stuff to go to a rabbit show!
Easter. We had 26 people at our house for Easter. 16 of them were kids!
If it rained on Easter I was going to cry.
There was some serious prayer going on during the days leading up to Easter regarding the weather.
Who is having a hard time waiting until after dinner?
Isn't Megan's dress pretty? Ryan, no more jellybeans!
And what does one eat between church and Easter dinner? Pizza!
I think she thinks she is being sneaky.
These three, getting a picture of the three beautiful girls is impossible!
Almost.
It was overcast for the day of Easter. I'll take it. We had an Easter Egg hunt with 16 kids and 192+ eggs. They had such a great time.
Good Job, Grandpa! That was a tough one to find!
Hey, dad! Put me down! This is not how you hunt for eggs! And besides, I heard something about chocolate!!!!!
I think we have some negotiations going on here.
As for the rest of the cats, they were hiding somewhere. Mitzy, decided to be brave and see what all the excitement was about.
A successful Easter! Happy Resurrection day!
