It just keeps happening. . .

It happened again, those days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months and here we are again playing catch up in the lives of the Gaskills!

Halloween, came and went a flurry of pumpkins and candy.  LOTS of Candy!!!!

It is always scary to give Katie a knife, and yet she is the one who carves a trumpeting angel and a cross on hers.
Pumpkins by artist: Megan, Anne, Katie and Ryan

Ryan has started not wearing a shirt on a regular basis, no matter that we are in 30 degree weather and rain.  He told me I could give all his shirts to goodwill because he wasn't going to use them any more.  "Wearing shirts isn't manly" according to Ryan.

Megan carved such a sweet little pumpkin.

The troops ready to round up all the candy available.

Ryan and Katie both won medals at the soccer banquet for the end of the year.

How quickly photo ops turn deadly. . .

"Girls, Clean up those Puzzles!"   "Yes, mom!"

Ryan, telling us what his favorite part of Lego Learning class was at homeschool presentation night.

Some dear friends and now neighbors invited us to go to a Rabbit show in Astoria.  "Sure." I agreed.  Not really thinking it through.  Not really registering that would mean leaving at 5am to get there in time.  Other than getting to the gas station before the employees arrived to open, there were no hitches and we had a great time.  It was really a fun show and the kids all did great.
A quick glimpse in getting rabbit ready, here our friends are giving "Yoshi" the rabbit a pedicure so he looked perfect for the judges.

Katie brought "Chip" for their first show.  Katie was nervous.  Chip refused to show sit, but they still got a blue ribbon.
Anne brought two rabbits to this show and did well with both of them.  Then she sold the one on the right to her friend.

Katie in showmanship, trying desperately to get him to stay in his show sit.  He tried his best and it was good enough.

In conformation Anne's rabbits won champion and reserve champion.  Twinkie, the one looking to leave the table won champion, and Anne and her friend were able to share the win (and the chocolate bar) as Anne showed him as the breeder and Friend showed him as the owner.

Chip came in third in his breed, not bad for his first show.

Katie, still trying to get him to sit in that perfect Netherland Dward pose.

Great first show!

Then Moe's for dinner and then the long drive home.

After Thanksgiving we pulled out this puzzle of frogs.  You match 9 squares with matching tops and bottoms of frogs.  Our friends spent a good hour grumbling and nashing teeth trying to figure it out.  The next day Megan sat down with it and solved it in 10 minutes.  You go girl!

Gotta have a tree!
Now we tumble headlong into the Christmas season.  Phil loves to bet a baled tree.  So do the kids.  I think there is something satisfying about cutting the strings and having it "pop" into place!

Ryan removing the last of the strings from the tree.

The Super Moon!

Anne and her friend went to the homeschool  Christmas Formal.
Dad, get out that application to date your daughter, and the shot gun!  She is so quickly becoming that young lady and less the little girl.

No, they didn't plan the color thing.  Just great friends think alike, I guess.

Life continues to move at a rapid pace around here, but we are taking time to savor the moments (and hot cocoa), spend time together playing games, doing crafts, and watching ridiculous Christmas movies we have seen over and over and over . . .
